Coming Trends in Stone Countertops for 2022
If you’ve decided to get new countertops, the thought of “investment” has probably crossed your mind. You can expect your countertops to last for decades and add significant value to your home. If you get a very temporarily “fad” countertop, you could hurt yourself in the long run, as the fad fades away but the countertop remains, but at the end of the day, it’s your decision. That being said, here is a brief guide of current and coming trends.
Quartz is In
Quartz came around as an alternative to natural stone, made up of crushed quartz, resin, and pigment. The wide range of colors, including marble look alikes, make quartz increasingly popular. These countertops are extremely hard, durable, hygienic, and low-maintenance.
Large Kitchen Sinks
A large kitchen sink not only offers you the most open space to fit large pots and pans, but also creates a very clean and minimalist look. Farmhouse sinks, like the one pictured are very popular and create a unique look. Low divide double bowls are also very popular for people who like the large usable size, but also want to do small tasks simultaneously.
Backsplash Shelves
These shelves are a great way to take an interesting backsplash and make it even better. A convenient way to get a little bit of extra storage that also looks great in most kitchens.
Waterfall Counters
To create a flowing, seemingly endless look for your counters, consider this up and coming trend. The seams can be nearly invisible giving you a never ending, stylish look. Patterns in the stone can be very precisely matched letting it “flow” over the edge.
Matte Finish
Glossy sheen has previously been all the rage, but recently the transition in kitchens has been to more flat finishes. Flat finishes are great at concealing fingerprints and small scratches and other imperfections. Leathered countertops are in. If you’re looking for a timeless look that doesn’t carry the risk of going out of style, go for a polished finish.
Hopefully this brief guide gives you some inspiration or ideas on what you might want to do with your new kitchen design.
